Hispanic International Mission Inc. (HIM)
It is with great honor that I have been appointed President and CEO of Hispanic International Mission Inc. (HIM). Founded in 2013, HIM is a non-profit organization (501 © 3) incorporated to the Massachusetts Hispanic Dental Association (MHDA) that is dedicated to improving the oral health of the underserved population around the world. As a past President of the MHDA in 1993 and former President of the National Hispanic Dental Association (HDA) in 1996, we have been traveling to Central America, South America and the Caribbean. Most recently, under the leadership of our current President of the MHDA, Dr. Zuzana Mendez, we have traveled to Haiti (April 2008, 2009, 2013), the Dominican Republic (2010, 2011, 2012), El Salvador (2004, 2005, 2007), Ecuador (2004, 2005, 2006, 2007), and Peru (2007). I now invite you to join HIM as the next delegate of our 15th humanitarian mission, which will be held from August 23 – 30, 2014 in Bogota, Colombia.
I welcome you to be part of this great adventure in providing free dental care and beautiful smiles to the undeserved population. We offer to our patients (children and adults): oral diagnosis, oral hygiene instructions, prophylaxis, fluoride application, extractions, and restorative work (amalgam and composite).
Dentists within private practice, faculty, and students (college, graduate, and post-graduate) are welcome to come and learn more about how to treat the undeserved population with respect, professionalism and high level of compassion. In addition to your volunteer service, we are also in need of your financial support and dental equipment. Any individuals with experience in the dental field are welcome. Past volunteers have found our mission program’s experience to be rewarding and students will benefit greatly by working along-side with skilled practitioners who generously share their knowledge.
